The
general concept of a chronic disease is that it is there since a long
time. Colds, Chest and Lung Troubles and Skin Diseases are generally
classed as chronic. If they occur, they last for very long time, only
kept in abeyance by abundant drugging. Add to the list the most
prevalent modern diseases, Hypertension and Diabetes. All these occur in
single, multiple and complex combinations in different individuals.
Homeopathy has cures for all individuals in all these
conditions. A hundred years ago the idea of a single well chosen
remedies or at best a very small sequence of prescription produced the
cures. Not any more. We live in conditions, which are far removed from
nature. Food, water and even the very air we breathe are severely
polluted. The onslaught of interference and drugging is more severe. It
should be clear that all persons with chronic manifestations take longer
to be cured. There is a serious misconception that homeopathy acts slow.About the “faster than magic” action of the homeo
remedies in certain conditions, I will write separately. I would like to emphasize that acute and threatening conditions
respond extremely fast even with chronic backgrounds. I will illustrate
the importance of relative time frames with a chosen case.
Mr. M is over sixty now. When he was five years old, his tonsils were excised with the
assurance that his growth that his growth would be faster. He was a
precocious child yet mildly diffident and self-conscious till his
twenties. He was yet prone to be adamant when he was convinced that he
was on the right track. He developed a five-centimeter diameter ringworm
patch near the right temple when he was seven years old. Highly
camphorous ayurvedic application dwindled it away. Then he had three
repeated attacks of intermittent fever (malaria). Two of them were
treated with Quinine at that time. When he got the third attack at the
age of thirteen he was given a dose of Natrum Mur 200 by a local
homeopath. He never got the fevers again.
But for three
decades he suffered from severe attacks of colds, with intense body
pains, headaches on either side with concurrent disturbance of the
digestive function. The “Cold” always used to start with post nasal
irritation, salty expectoration show its intensity with severe nasal
discharge and slowly taper off with laryngeal inflammation and cough.
Lycopodium and Psorinum generally used to help. I found later that
Gelsemium invariably aborted these attacks when taken at the first sign
of trouble. For a couple of years everything seem to be fine but over a
period of a month the ring worm patches returned starting from the right
hand to the left thigh, then the right thigh and the left hand.
Lycopodium relieved the suffering but it was several controlled doses of
Psorinum that produced the final cure.
From the
homeopathic analysis it is not so many diseases in so many years. It is
the same CHRONIC sycotic and psoric manifestation, which showed up in
different forms at different times like the multi-headed hydra. From
what I have illustrated one should perceive and know what is meant by a
proper cure of the INDIVIDUAL.
